*COVID UPDATE - 30.08.2021*
We are receiving an increased amount of feedback regarding our current appointment booking system.
Ideally, we would welcome opening up the appointment books fully with the GPs seeing all patients face to face, however the charts from the BBC News Website today demonstrates the prevalence of COVID-19 in Scotland right now.
Please visit https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-58370841 for more information.
If we pre-book all appointments in advance, this leaves us with zero appointments for on the day demand. If we take a blended approach and pre-book 50% of our appointments and a GP tests positive for COVID-19, then the remaining GP on the premises has to fit in an additional 15 patients to their own surgery – which then impacts the availability of that GP to address any emergencies which may arise.
We fully appreciate that the current booking system is not perfect, however we would like to assure all patients that if you need to be seen face to face by a GP, they will arrange this with yourself following your initial telephone consultation.
We would also like to assure patients that we are continually reviewing our current booking system in line with Scottish Government and Local Medical Council advice as well as the availability of GPs and the capacity we can offer patients.
